Honda’s Indian Operations Struggle with Sluggish Sales

While the Indian automobile market is expanding, Honda Motor’s market presence continues to decline. This is due to its limited local network of roughly 300 dealers—compared to the 1,000–3,000+ of top manufacturers—and a product lineup restricted to just three models. Furthermore, its customer base leans toward older generations, failing to capture demand from the growing youth demographic. In its February 2026 financial briefing, Honda admitted that its recent heavy focus on electrification left its efforts in Asia, including India, spread thin.
