Thailand’s Automobile Production Bases and Results in H1 2025

In the first half of 2025, automobile production in Thailand decreased by 4.6% from the same period last year to 726,158 units. Production of one-ton pickup trucks, the “national vehicle” of Thailand, continued to decline, but the drop was kept to a small level thanks to increased production of BEVs by Chinese OEMs. Toyota’s production decreased by 0.9% to 275,285 units. Although passenger cars fell by 10.1%, one-ton pickups rose to 177,663 units, an increase of 4.0%. On the other hand, Isuzu (down 10.9%) and Mitsubishi Motors (down 32.9%) continued to see double-digit declines. BYD, which launched local production in July 2024, totaled 19,484 units. Additionally, SAIC’s BEV production increased by 3.0 times from the previous year, driving up total production to 13,881 units, an increase of 38.7% from the previous year.
