Europe’s ECV (PHEV / BEV) Sales in YTD September 2022

The ECV (electric chargeable vehicle = BEV / FCEV / PHEV / EREV) market in 30 European countries (EU + EFTA + United Kingdom, excluding Malta and Liechtenstein) increased 7.5% year-on-year to 1,690,607 units in the first nine months of 2022. European governments, which are trying to strengthen environmental regulations, are aiming to expand the BEV sales, and are considering / implementing various support measures. Due to product shortages and supply not catching up with demand, the growth rate in Europe as a whole decreased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year. While sales doubled in the first three quarters of 2021, demand rose only a single digit during the same period of 2022.
