South Korea’s Automobile Sales in H1 2025

South Korea’s automobile sales in the first six months of 2025 rose by 3.4% year-on-year to 828,903 units. The swift introduction of new models and electric vehicle subsidy policies contributed to this increase. Sales of BEVs, HEVs and other electric vehicles reached 319,249 units, exceeding 300,000 units for the first time and accounting for just under 40% of all sales. With fuel prices remaining high and the introduction of new models such as Hyundai’s IONIQ 9 and Kia’s EV3, consumers are becoming more interested in purchasing electric vehicles.
