Toyota Supports Electrification by Sharing THS, Technology Patents

This article discusses Toyota’s latest technical undertakings, focusing on two main areas. First of all, we will examine Toyota’s own platform and product development as well as cooperation with other manufacturers.

Platform / product development

Starting with the launch of the fourth-gen Prius in 2015, a number of models has been based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) design concept ever since. With an emphasis on high rigidity and low center of gravity, the platform is strengthened with reinforced materials and frame layout. The TNGA concept was introduced to a number of models until the end of 2018 ranging from the C segment to the luxury FR segment. The fully-redesigned Aqua (sold as the Prius-C overseas) and Vitz (sold as the Yaris overseas) Yaris are anticipated to be launched after 2019 the new concept entering even the B segment.
