Overview of Asia’s Automobile Sales, Production, and Exports for 2025

Total automobile sales in Asia (covering 13 countries across South Asia, ASEAN, and East Asia excluding Japan and China*) rose by 4.5% year-on-year in 2025 to 11.24 million units, marking the first time sales have exceeded the 11 million mark and the first increase in two years. In addition to a turnaround in Thailand, where demand had been sluggish due to tight lending, sales grew in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. South Korea also outperformed its previous year ’s results, as did India, the largest market in Asia outside of China.
