Indonesia’s Export Results of Automobiles in 2022

Indonesia's automobile exports (CBUs only) in 2022 reached 473,602 units, up 60.7% from the previous year. Driven by a doubling of shipments to the Philippines, the largest export destination of Indonesia, exports exceeded the record high of 2019’s 332,023 units by more than 40%. New developments include the start of full-scale exports by Hyundai Motor, which launched operations of its first plant in Indonesia in March 2022, and the beginning of exports of electrified vehicles. In September 2022, Wuling started exporting the ultra-compact BEV Air ev, becoming the first electric vehicle to be exported from Indonesia. In February 2023, Toyota began exporting the HEV model of the Kijang Innova Zenix. Toyota Motor plans to export over 8,000 units in 2023, including the conventional model, of which of HEV version is expected to account for around 30%.
