In 2021, India's automobile production increased by 30.1% year-on-year to 4,399,112 units. Domestic sales increased 27.9% to 3,759,540 units, and finished vehicle exports went up 36.1% to 622,243 units, resulting in an increase of over 30% in automobile production. Although domestic sales did not reach the results of 2017 and 2018 when results were especially strong, domestic sales nearly returned to the pre-corona level of 2019.
In 2021, passenger vehicle production rose 28% to 3,631,095 units while commercial vehicle production went up 40.8% to 768,017 units.
