Samsung SDI is increasing the production capacity of LiBs and concentrating LiB production to improve efficiency in China. Samsung SDI has invested about 300 billion KRW in its Xi’an base to raise production capacity from 34 Ah to 112 Ah. Mass production is scheduled to start at the end of 2021. In June 2021, Samsung SDI announced that it had completed the liquidation of its Changchun base which manufactured LiB packs. The company intends to concentrate its LiB business at the Xi’an and Tianjin bases.
