Toyota Motor is aiming for a full lineup of electric vehicles, and as part of this plan, the automaker will introduce 30 BEV models globally by 2030. Seven models will be rolled out worldwide by 2025 from the bZ series based on a BEV dedicated platform. In Japan, the bZ4X is scheduled to be released in mid-2022 as the first step. Toyota will not sell the bZ4x in Japan, instead it will be offered through KINTO’s subscription service. The reason is that battery pack deterioration makes BEV resale value drop sharply. In addition, Toyota aims is to reliably collect and reuse the batteries. Apart from the bZ4x, another BEV model the Lexus RZ is scheduled to be launched in 2022.
