Indonesia’s Automobile Sales in H1 2026

In the first half of 2026, automobile sales in Indonesia (on a wholesale basis) rose 15.9% year-on-year (YoY) to 437,000 units, marking the first time in three years that H1 volumes exceeded the previous year's performance. Light commercial vehicles (LCVs) spearheaded the automotive market's recovery. A massive spike in LCV demand drove pickup sales up 51.2% YoY to 66,000 units, while trucks between 5 and 10 tons GVW jumped 55.1% YoY to 27,000 units. This segment-specific boom was fueled by government-led initiatives, including school lunch distribution, village cooperatives, and regional logistics network upgrades. BEV and HEV sales also posted gains.
