Vietnam’s Automobile Sales in H1 2025

Vietnam’s automobile sales in the first six months of 2025 surged by 42.1% year-on-year to 254,794 units (this figure combines data of VAMA, which only releases data on member companies, and those of two non-VAMA members Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam and VinFast). This is slightly higher than the record high for the same period in 2022 when sales were driven by the post-coronavirus economic recovery and the government’s measure to halve registration fees for domestic-made vehicles. Although the rapid increase in Vietnamese automaker VinFast’s sales led to market expansion, it is unclear whether sales to general customers rose because the company’s sales figures include sales to businesses affiliated with its parent.
