Taiwan’s Electric Motorcycle Sales Declined Again in 2024

Electric motorcycle registrations in Taiwan reached a record high of 169,000 units in 2019 but have continued to decline for five consecutive years since then, dropping to 79,000 units in 2024. In the January to May period of 2025, sales dropped significantly to 16,000 units, down 37.3% from the same period of the previous year, and it is highly likely that sales will fall below 60,000 units for the entire year. In response, the Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs increased subsidies for purchasing electric vehicles in June 2025 to promote sales of electric motorcycles and raised subsidies for sharing service providers to purchase electric vehicles.
