Malaysia’s Automobile Sales Results in the First Half of 2022

Malaysia's automobile sales in the first half of 2022 increased 33.0% year-on-year to 331,386 units. In addition to the nationwide lockdown in the first half of 2021 which negatively affected sales, the relatively sharp increase in the first six months of 2022 is due to rush demand prior to the ending of sales tax exemption on automobiles at the end of June 2022 and economic recovery following the pandemic.
