Leading Surveillance Camera Maker Hikvision Focuses on Expanding ADAS Sales

Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology is a comprehensive supplier of surveillance camera systems, having the largest market share of surveillance cameras and security solutions in the world. The company have been increasing sales at a steady pace, reaching a record high level of 57.75 billion CNY in 2019, up 15.9% compared to the previous year.

Hikvision’s camera systems are widely used at airports, amusement parks, banks, commercial buildings, highways, and other structures. In addition to drive recorders, in-vehicle devices and ADAS, the company provides management systems for dealers and factories of automakers, traffic management systems, and related equipment. In recent years, the company is focusing on expanding the sales of ADAS products along with smart homes and robots as new businesses.

As of April 2020, Hikvision was certified as an automotive electronic component supplier by 20 automobile manufacturers. The Porsche Cayenne, released in March 2019, is equipped with Hikvision’s electronic devices. In May, Hikvision formed a tie-up with Great Wall Motor regarding the delivery of automotive electronic components. Using Hikvision’s equipment, Great Wall Motor is remote monitoring dealers. In December, Hikvision and Guangdong Baolong Motor, a manufacturer of specially equipped vehicles, signed a partnership agreement. The two companies plan to develop solutions for improving manufacturing efficiency and driving support solutions in various fields including connected cars, in-vehicle IoT, automobile security and AI. In addition, Hikvision’s manufacturing management solution will be introduced at Guangdong Baolong Motor’s plant.

Hikvision also has partnerships with local government agencies to provide urban traffic management and security. In October 2019, the Deqing County People’s Government in Zhejiang province announced that it will partner with five companies, Hikvision’s parent company China Electronics Technology HIK Group, Huawei Technologies, Geely Automobile Research Institute (Ningbo) and Guotang Automobile to conduct field trial of autonomous driving technology. In addition, Hikvision’s subsidiary Guizhou Hik Traffic Big Data, which develops traffic management systems, operates transportation management systems in Xinjiang and Guiyang (Guizhou province).
