Honda Motor's domestic vehicle sales in 2021 dropped 6.4% from the previous year to 579,771 units, and market share decreased 0.4 pp to 13.0%. Monthly sales in the first five months of the year (except February) exceeded 2020’s results but dropped below the previous year’s level for the rest of the year. Declining sales were caused by the reemergence of the new coronavirus which hindered steady parts supply. As a result, automobile production declined, prolonging delivery time. Factory shipping time of some of the top models was about four months, but it took over six months in the case of the hybrid Vezel or even over a year in the case of some of the grades and colors of the Vezel.
