Iran’s Auto Sector Advances with Chinese Technology Support: Interview with Local Automotive Analyst

Amid global turmoil in the automotive industry, FOURIN spoke in February 2026 with Sanaz Taheri, an automotive analyst based in Iran, about the country’s current situation, which has remained difficult for many years due to economic sanctions imposed by former Western bloc countries. According to Taheri, after European automakers withdrew from production in Iran in 2010–2011, the country’s automotive industry has continued its business activities based primarily on Chinese technology.
