Toyota Motor's automobile sales in China increased 8.2% year-on-year to 1.944,010 units in 2021 (announced by Toyota Motor, including commercial vehicles, and sales results in Hong Kong and Macau). Sales increased for the ninth consecutive year due to the Chinese government's economic stimulus measures and strong sales of new models such as the Camry and RAV4. In the first half of 2021, sales went up 28.8% from the same period of the previous year to 971,000 units due to a significant decrease in the previous year triggered by the outbreak of the new coronavirus infection. In the latter half of the year, sales decreased 6.8% to 973,000 units. The decline came as some dealerships were closed in August due to the reemergence of the virus, and insufficient parts supply from Southeast Asia from August to November triggered by the comeback of the pandemic.
