Taiwan’s Automobile Production Results in 2022

Taiwan’s automobile production in 2022 decreased by 1.5% from the previous year to 261,263 units. Exports increased by 20% year-on-year, but production for the domestic market dropped 4.5% year-on-year. In addition to the continued popularity of imported cars, which account for over 45% of all sales in Taiwan, the supply shortage of parts such as semiconductors also hampered production for the domestic market. Exports went up 21.9% year- on-year to 37,000 units, Toyota’s Corolla Altis and Corolla Cross accounting for the bulk of the car exports.
