Pakistan’s vehicle sales increased 89.8% year-on-year to 242,871 units in 2021 (based on locally-assembled vehicle data of PAMA members). The sharp rise is due to corona lockdown in the previous year as well as significant reduction of automobile tax starting from the new fiscal year in July 2021. Passenger cars increased 90.6% to 198,921 units, light commercial vehicles (SUVs and pickup trucks) went up 92.1% to 38,488 units, and trucks and buses rose 55.3% to 5,462 units.
