Automobile Production Bases of the Philippines

In February 2025, the Philippine government announced the RACE (Revitalizing the Automotive Industry for Competitive Enhancement) program, a new automobile production support measure. The aim of this measure is to expand the automobile industry by having manufacturers introduce new models and boost production scale. The government will provide financial support of up to 3 billion PHP (total budget is 9 billion PHP) on the condition that new investments are made in the production of new models and that a cumulative total of 100,000 units of one model specified by the manufacturer is produced. Although the conditions have been relaxed compared to the previous CARS (Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy) program, the amount of support has been reduced. RACE is expected to support the Toyota Tamaraw which went into production in November 2024 and Mitsubishi’s new models which were included in the automaker’s investment plan announced in February 2025.
