Stellantis Electrifies Peugeot and Citroën in China

Stellantis is facing a severe sales slump in China, with retail sales of passenger vehicles plummeting 34.2% year-on-year (YoY) to 43,000 units in 2025, and dropping 45.0% YoY to 13,000 units in the first half of 2026. GAC FCA, its former joint venture with GAC Group that produced Jeep-branded vehicles, filed for bankruptcy and was officially declared bankrupt in June 2025. Consequently, Stellantis has pivoted to an “asset-light” strategy in China, halting new investments in manufacturing facilities to focus on partnerships and imported vehicle sales.
