Japan’s Automobile Sales in H1 2026

Automobile sales in Japan for the first half of 2026 rose 1.8% year-on-year (YoY) to 2.38 million units. This follows a 10.2% YoY increase in the same period last year, which was driven by a supply recovery following safety certification scandals. Despite those high comparables, the market achieved modest growth to mark the second consecutive year of gains.
