BYD’s Recent Business Activities in ASEAN and India

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD began to launch the M6, a midsize BEV MPV, in ASEAN countries and India from July 2024 onward. It is based on the gasoline powered Song Max which was sold in China until 2023. In ASEAN and India, it was released for private use as an improved version of the e6, which had been developed for fleet use. The e6 used by taxi companies and other fleet operators, and is sold in Asian countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, and India. In Indonesia, the model is slightly smaller than the Toyota Kijang Innova, and although it is a BEV, they cost almost the same, so its price competitiveness is attracting attention.
