Overview of Western Europe’s 2024 Automobile Market

Automobile sales in Western Europe (20 countries*¹) increased by 0.7% year-on-year to 13,749,846 units in 2024. Germany (down 0.4% to 3.2 million units) and France (down 2.4% to 2.15 million units) saw declines, which were offset by expansions in the UK (up 2.9% to 2.37 million units) and Spain (up 8.1% to 1.22 million units) among others. In the UK, company car sales drove the market, while in Spain, strong sales of HEVs and MHEVs were the primary drivers.
