Overview of Indonesia’s EV Charging Infrastructure

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is taking the lead in expanding charging infrastructure by partnering with state-owned power company PLN and private operators. Incentives for operators include connection costs and/or guaranteed power contracts, as well as exemption from the obligation to pay basic electricity charges for the first two years. Charger standards are specified as Type 2 and CCS2, which are mainly used in Europe, and Japan’s CHAdeMO, with fast chargers having an output of 50 kW or less, and ultra-fast chargers having an output of 150 kW or less.
