Malaysia’s Automobile Sales in H1 2026

In the first half of 2026, vehicle sales in Malaysia remained robust, ticking up 2.8% year-on-year (YoY) to 385,000 units. Steady private consumption fueled by economic growth, alongside an influx of new model launches, sustained strong demand. However, a pre-buying rush in December 2025 ahead of anticipated price hikes from open market value (OMV) revisions led to a subsequent payback effect, causing sales to drop for several brands.
