Daihatsu Motor’s 2022 Sales Results of Automobiles in Japan

Daihatsu Motor's automobile sales in Japan in 2022 went up 0.4% year-on-year to 575,530 units. Mini vehicles, which made up over 93% of all sales, increased 1.0% to 538,974 units, while standard vehicles dropped 7.9% to 36,556 units. Daihatsu’s market share rose by 0.8 point to 13.7% in 2022.

In November 2022, Daihatsu announced plans to launch a light BEV with an actual cost of 1 million JPY by 2025. For future development, the company plans to partner with Chinese battery maker CATL on battery supply, and by 2030, all vehicles sold in Japan are aimed to be electrified.
