Malaysia’s Automobile Sales Results in the First Half of 2023

Automobile sales in Malaysia in the first half of 2023 increased by 10.5% year-on-year to 366,037 units, growth continuing from the previous year. This was a new record high for the first half of a year. According to Malaysia’s automotive industry association MAA’s analysis the reasons for strong market performance were the granting of preferential automobile sales tax benefits for new cars reserved by the end of June 2022 until the end of March 2023, the brisk sales performance of national car manufacturers Proton and Perodua, the introduction of new models, vibrant economy growth and the improvement of the parts supply chain.
