Taiwan’s Automobile Production Results in YTD June 2022

In the first half of 2022, Taiwan’s automobile production decreased 11.6% year-on-year to 121,584 units. While Taiwan’s ratio of imported vehicles to sales is increasing, automobile production has been on a downward trend since 2016, when it fell below 300,000 units. For OEMs with local production bases, maintaining plant operating rates is a challenge. Kuozui Motors, which manufactures the Toyota and Hino brands, aims to expand exports, while Ford Lio Ho, which manufactures the Ford brand, introduced a smart production line in 2020 to improve production efficiency. In addition, China Motor and Yulon Motor have started production of their self-developed and new-brand models in an effort to maintain and expand their production scale.
