Overview of South America’s 2024 Automobile Market

Automobile sales in South America (nine countries*¹) reached 3,966,773 units in 2024, a 6.6% increase compared to the previous year. Although this marks the fourth consecutive year of recovery, the sales volume remains below pre-pandemic 2019 levels of over 4.31 million units. While countries like Argentina (down 7.7% to 405,000 units) and Chile (down 3.9% to 317,000 units) performed below the previous year’s results, the overall figures were bolstered by the recovery in the largest market, Brazil (up 14.1% to 2.63 million units), and Colombia (up 7.7% to 201,000 units).
