Thailand’s Automobile Sales Results in the First Half of 2022

Thailand’s automobile sales in the first six months of 2022 increased by 14.5% year-on-year to 427,296 units. The performance of the same period of the previous year, which is the target figure for comparison, remained at a low level due to the resurgence of COVID-19, resulting in a double-digit increase in the first half of 2022. However, it is still at a level of 80% compared to the first half of 2019 (524,000 units) before COVID-19. A gradual recovery was hampered by a decrease in production due to the shortage of semiconductors, a rise in vehicle prices, and a decline in purchasing power due to inflation.
