South Korea’s Segmented Sales Results of Automobiles in 2021

The South Korean automobile market decreased 8.8% from the previous year to 1,712,862 units in 2021. Sales fell below the previous year's record high level due to vehicle shortage and other factors. While passenger cars such sedans and hatchbacks declined16.4% to 684,397 units, SUV sales went down a mere 3.8% to 687,392 units. In the premium segment, Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis increased significantly.
