Daihatsu Motor’s Global Production Capacity of Automobiles

Daihatsu Motor’s factory utilization rate in Japan was 84.0% in 2021, down 4.0pp from the previous year. The automaker’s factory utilization rate was close to 90% from 2017 to 2019 but dropped several percentage points below in 2021 for the second consecutive year. The decline is due to the suspension of operations triggered by the outbreak of the new coronavirus in domestic factories, the shortage of parts supply from corona hit Southeast Asia, and production adjustments resulting from the shortage of semiconductors.
