Malaysia’s Automobile Production Bases and Results in H1 2025

Malaysia’s automobile production in the first half of 2025 was 352,626 units, down 10.1% from the same period last year. In recent years, the number of people purchasing new vehicles for the first time has been expanding due to rising employment and income, but growth in automobile demand peaked in 2024 at 816,731 units and then began to decline. Out of the top four volume-selling brands Perodua, Toyota and Honda declined while Proton only increased less than three dozen units.
