Honda Motor’s Motorcycle Business Developments in India

Honda Motor’s local subsidiary Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is stepping up export activities in India. HMSI has been exporting products to 40 countries around the world and plans to continue expanding exports in the future. HMSI’s cumulative export volume of motorcycles from India reached 3 million units in March 2022. In April 2021, HMSI announced to expand its overseas business division launching a new organization. The new entity integrates sales, engineering, development, purchasing, and quality functions to build an optimal system for expanding into overseas markets. In addition to motorcycles, HMSI also manufactures engines for export. Engine production began in December 2021 at the company’s Vithalapur Plant in Gujarat state.
