Indonesia’s Automobile Production Results in 2022

Indonesia’s automobile production in 2022 increased by 31.0% year-on-year to 1,470,146 units, surpassing the previous record high level of 1,343,703 units set in 2018. Domestic demand recovered by nearly 20% year-on- year, driving growth, and exports also increased by 60% year-on-year, reaching a record high. In addition to manufacturers such as Daihatsu Motor and Toyota Motor, which have traditionally had a large production scale, Hyundai Motor, which started operating its own plant in Indonesia with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units at the beginning of 2022, also contributed to the expansion.
