Porsche’s 2021 Sales Results in Japan

Porsche's vehicle sales in Japan decreased 3.8% year-on-year to 7,009 units in 2021, becoming the first year with a drop in sales after 11 consecutive years of increase since 2009. Porsche's worldwide sales in 2021 exceeded 300,000 units for the first time. While Porsche is increasing sales in the US and China, demand in Japan has been lingering around 7,000 units for the last five years. With the aim of expanding sales in Japan, Porsche opened a brand experience facility Porsche Experience Center Tokyo in October 2021. In addition, Porsche Japan is expanding its charging infrastructure to popularize electric vehicles. In April 2022, the company announced a partnership with Audi Japan to unify their quick charging networks. The partnership will double the total number of chargers that Porsche and Audi owners can use. Currently, Porsche has 50 and Audi has 52 rapid chargers in Japan.
