South Korea’s Automobile Production Results in YTD June 2022

South Korea's automobile production in the first half of 2022 decreased 2.0% year-on-year to 1,779,039 units. Due to the continued shortage of semiconductors and disruptions in wire harness and airbag control unit supply triggered by the COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai, China, sales decreased from the same period of the previous year. The Hyundai Motor Group has continued to make large-scale investments in the BEV segment, while GM Korea and Renault Korea are moving ahead with facility expansion and tie-ups.
