Toyota Group’s Global Production Dropped Nearly 8% in 2024

Toyota Group’s global automobile production volume decreased by 7.8% from the previous year to 10,615,000 units in 2024. Domestic production dropped by 12.8% to 3,757,431 units, and overseas production declined by 4.9% to 6,857,569 units. Domestic production fell double digits following the suspension of production triggered by the transport ministry’s announcement that Toyota engaged in inappropriate acts over obtaining “type approval” certification which is required for volume production of new vehicles. The scandal also involved Toyota Motor’s subsidiary Daihatsu Motor.
