Asia’s Automobile Production in 2025: India Increased for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Automobile production in seven major Asian countries (total for Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, India, and Pakistan) increased by 2.6% year-on-year to 14.37 million units in 2025, marking the first increase in two years and the second-highest level on record. In addition to growth in India, where the automobile market is expanding significantly, production also expanded in Pakistan, where automobile demand is on a recovery trend. Furthermore, in Thailand, where a downward trend had continued for the past three years, signs of bottoming out were seen as the decline was limited to 0.8% year-on-year. Additionally, while there were concerns regarding the impact of U.S. tariffs on South Korea due to its large volume of exports to the U.S., production remained on par with the previous year, limited to a 0.6% decrease against a backdrop of steady domestic sales.
