BYD Launches Sealion 6: Its First PHEV for the Japanese Market

BYD launched the Sealion 6 in December 2025. While the company has previously limited its Japanese lineup to BEVs, this marks the fifth passenger model and the first PHEV introduced to the market. With this PHEV, BYD aims to address consumer concerns regarding BEVs, such as cruising range, charging infrastructure, and vehicle pricing. The FWD model is priced at 3.982 million JPY, and the AWD model at 4.488 million JPY. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late January 2026 for the FWD and late March for the AWD.
