Honda Motor plans to raise the ratio of BEV and FCEV sales to 100% worldwide by 2040. As of October 2021, Honda’s global electric vehicle lineup consisted of the X-NV, VE-1+, VE-1S and M-NV models in China, launched under Honda’s Chinese joint venture brands, and the Honda e in Japan and Europe. The automaker plans to roll out new models starting from 2022. In China, a Honda SUV e: prototype-based mass-produced model will be released in the spring of 2022. A total of 10 BEV models are planned to be launched in China in the next five years. In North America, the Prologue SUV, using GM’s BEV platform and Ultium battery, is scheduled to be released under the Honda brand in 2024. In Japan, a light BEV will go on the market in 2024 and the Cruise Origin, part of an autonomous driving mobility service, is planned to be launched in the 2030s.

Japan ・In Oct. 2020, the Honda e was launched. ・In Sep. 2021, technology demonstration was launched for the development of Cruise Origin, a self-driving BEV jointly developed with GM’s subsidiary Cruise. ・In 2024, a light BEV is scheduled to be launched. ・By 2030, Honda aims to increase the sales share of BEVs and FCEVs in total automobile sales to 20% in Japan. ・From the latter half of the 2020s, it is possible that a new model based on the e: Architecture BEV platform, whose development has been led by Honda Motor, will be launched in Japan following its released in North America.
North America ・In Aug. 2017, lease sales of the Clarity Electric began in the U.S. ・In Mar. 2020, sales of the Clarity Electric were discontinued in the U.S. ・In Jun. 2021, Honda unveiled the Prologue BEV SUV which is intended for the North American market. ・In 2024, a large BEV jointly developed with GM is scheduled to be launched under the Honda brand and Acura brand, respectively. ・By 2030, Honda aims to increase the sales ratio of BEVs and FCEVs in North America to 40%. ・From the latter half of the 2020s, a new model based on the e: Architecture BEV platform is scheduled to be launched in North America.
China ・In Nov. 2018, GAC Honda unveiled the Everus VE-1. ・In Oct. 2019, Dongfeng Honda launched the X-NV. ・In Sep. 2020, GAC Honda launched the VE-1+ and VE-1S+. ・In Nov. 2020, Dongfeng Honda launched the M-NV. ・In Apr. 2021, Honda introduced the Honda SUV e:prototype, the automaker’s first BEV model in the Chinese market. ・In spring 2022, a Honda SUV e:prototype-based mass-market model is scheduled to be released. ・By around 2027, Honda plans to release 10 BEV models. ・By 2030, Honda aims to increase the sales ratio of BEVs and FCEVs in China to 40%. ・From the latter half of the 2020s, a new model based on the e: Architecture BEV platform is scheduled to be launched in China.
